The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is the largest Central Armed Police Force in India which is operated under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Indian Government. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is established on 27th July 1939 and the Governing body of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is the Ministry of Home Affairs (India). The motto of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is the service and loyalty. The Headquarters of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is located in the CGO complex in New Delhi. Dr. A.P. Maheshwari is the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The main function of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is to maintain law and order of the state as well as the CRPF has also maintained a biggest role in the general elections of India. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is recognised as the largest paramilitary force which consists of 246 battalions and with many other establishments. The CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) word is originated from CRP (Crown Representative ‘s Police) on 27th July 1939, with 2 battalions in Nimach, Madhya Pradesh. For monitoring the Naxalite movement, a new wing named Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA) was included to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) In 2008.

The duties fulfilled by this organisation are as follows:

a) Saturation patrolling;
b) Manning and guarding of Police Station and the National Prison;
c) Mobile patrolling;
d) Security escorts and so on.

In India the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is the only Para Military Force that has appointed three Female Battalions who are positioned in duty in Ayodhya, Manipur, Assam, and also in many different parts of the country in which the female battalions are performing admirable job.

The current function and power of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is to take abroad operation as a part of IPKF and the peacekeeping assignments of the UN as well as to guard the India’s internal security. Moreover, in India from 2010, onwards the Central Reserve Police Force is recognized as the largest paramilitary organisation.
