Non- Alcoholic Beverage License in India

To set up a non- alcoholic beverage or a juice factory in India for selling purpose one must have to obtain the food license from the FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India). Selling sealed and packed food items without having the food license is regarded as illegal and it is a punishable offence too.
The FSSAI Registration is compulsory for any food business operator before starting a food business in India. The FSSAI (Food Standard and Safety Authority in India) is an autonomous organisation formed in 2006, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The headquarters of the FSSAI is located in New Delhi. The FSSAI has its 6 regional offices situated in Kolkata, Delhi, Cochin, Chennai, Mumbai, and Guwahati.
Food license registration can be applied online by the Retailers of Food Product, Transporters as well as by the Distributors, Exporter and Importer of food products, all kinds of Food Manufacturer, Online Food seller, Wholesaler, Caters and others. The period of Food License is effective for 1- 5 years and after 5 years the Food License should be renewed.
There are basically 3 types FSSAI Registration done in India and they are:
a. Central FSSAI License for business turnover more than 20 crores- Form B.
b. State FSSAI License for business turnover between 12 lakhs to 20 crores-Form b.
c. FSSAI registration for business turnover up to 12 lakhs- Form A basic license.
Before starting any type of food business, the Food License is very much essential for any kind of businessman. The FSSAI License number is a 14-digit registration number which must be printed on food packaging products. Any food operators or instituters whose annual turnover is maximum Rs. 12 lakhs can apply for the basic FSSAI License.
