The Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is the main border patrol organisation of India who are guarding the border of India with China in the independent region of Tibet. The Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is created on 24th of October in 1962, under the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) act because of the emergence of the 1962’s Sino- Indian War. The Governing body of the Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is the Ministry of Home Affairs (India).

The Headquarters of the Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is situated in New Delhi, India. The main motto of the Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is “Shaurya- Dridhata- Karm Nishtha. The Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)is recognised as one of the India’s seven Central Armed Force. The current chief of the Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is Shri Surjeet Singh Deswal who is appointed on 31st October, 2018.

The Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have been provided in the disaster management training in the field like nuclear, biological, and chemical disasters. The training centre of the Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is situated at Mussoorie in Uttarakhand.

The Indo -Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has various functions to perform like to check trans- border smuggling as well as to prevent from any sorts of illegal immigrations, maintenance of peace, to give security to VIPs who are threatened and also to provide security to sensitives installations, to maintain law and order in any area in the event of disturbance etc.

Currently the Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) battalions are posted on the duty of guarding the borders from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Diphu La in Arunachal Pradesh, of the Indo- China border.
