India is well known for the purpose of exporting products to the foreign markets and countries. There are many food items that are get exported from India and they all need to be get registered as well as licensed under the FSSAI and health ministry in order to send them outside the country. So, the exporter needs to acquire an FSSAI License Registration for the purpose of export of every food product to the country in order to keep track of all the exports.
FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) established in the year 2006, handles all the food related issues in various Ministries and Departments. FSSAI License is mandatory for all the Food Business Operators. For obtaining the export license, an exporter must do the following things:
- Should get a valid import-export code.
- Should register themselves with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.
- Must get a license from the Central Licensing Authority for exporting food items outside the country.
- Should make sure that the food products being exported has shelf life remaining and is packaged well to reach its destination.
The exporter should get an export license to export food outside the country and need to get the approval for their food product under the health ministry and from the FSSAI. The exporter needs to register their company and obtain an import-export license, should also obtain a no objection certificate, get the approval for the food item.
For exporting food products outside India an import-export code is very important for the exporters. The exporters can apply for the registration for the IEC Code online and fill the form on their website. The code is issued by the DGFT and it remains constant throughout the export activities.
